BIO

Dan Slaughter draws on his many years of experience in real estate and law to assist buyers, sellers and investors in residential sales of homes, condominiums, TICs and small apartment buildings. He employs his calm demeanor, eye for detail, and analytical mind to assist his clients in finding their home and building their life in San Francisco.

As a homeowner for two decades, a landlord for a dozen, and a serial fixer-upper, Dan has personal experience with the issues that arise in the complicated San Francisco market. He is well-versed in renovation, design, permit, condominium conversion, and tenant issues, among others.

Dan was a practicing commercial litigation attorney for 25 years, and uses his legal skills in representing his real estate clients — analyzing properties and the market, negotiating contracts, advising on risks, shepherding transactions through to a successful close, and communicating clearly and professionally with all parties.

Dan was raised in West Virginia and received his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, majoring in History and Russian Studies. He came to California in 1985 to attend UCLA School of Law, moved to San Francisco in 1997, and lives on Mount Olympus at the geographic center of the city with his husband of many years, Stephan Blachowski, an interior designer.

In his free time, Dan stays abreast of architecture and urban planning news, and is a life-long opera buff, fashionista and travel addict. He cares deeply about making the world a better place, donating his time to Lambda Legal as a national board member and giving a percentage of every commission to LGBT and HIV-related charities.
